ST. Johns Jobs

Although the Oil and Gas industry was only established in St John’s 20 years ago, it has truly earned its place as a key component in the Canadian economy. It’s home to four offshore oil projects, Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose, and Hebron, which have produced around 1.7 million barrels of crude oil in their lifetime.

Because of this, St John’s has earned the title of Canada’s commercial hub for offshore oil and gas. It has accounted for 41% of Canadian exports over the past 20 years and this is set to continue – with 7 new entrants in the past two years alone, the future is bright for the Oil and Gas industry in St John’s. Projects are surpassing expectations and further developments are being planned, with $2.6 billion being committed by Husky Energy and partners for exploration work, so far. The White Rose project is a particular area of interest as expansions are planned into the west with first oil expected in 2022, creating a fresh wave of oil and gas job opportunities for skilled engineering and technical candidates.

To support this growth and help new energy projects flourish, NES is opening an office in St John’s, where our discipline specific consultants are on the ground ready to help candidates take the next steps in their career.
