Process Technician
- Operating process units within the Production Area to achieve Shift Plan in accordance to Daily Operating Instructions, Standing Instructions and Site Health, Safety, Security, Environment procedures.
- Operating the plant optimally within alarm, Design-Operating-Window and the Integrity-Operating-Window.
- Perform structured rounds (DCS Panel/Field) for field data logging and proactive monitoring. Take corrective action to maintain equipment and plant operations within optimal operating windows. Raise GSAP notifications for defects/maintenance issues with preliminary assessment of work order prioritization.
- Managing plant and equipment upsets, abnormal conditions and subsequent troubleshooting including incidents/plant emergencies and subsequent follow-up. Perform initial troubleshooting of more challenging/abnormal issue/high risk task (e.g. valve passing, leak, test point or drain line choked etc.).
- Update operating procedures, prepare job pack documentation and execute them for equipment maintenance.
- Carry out operational activities like sampling, equipment decontamination and isolation for maintenance, equipment commissioning, critical activities go and see etc.
- Participate in shutdown and start-up of units with thoughtful compliance to procedures.
- Perform the role of Authorized Gas Safety Tester (AGST) which includes conduct gas testing, providing oversight of critical activities and incompatible activities, issuance of permits for safe execution of maintenance tasks and turnaround activities.
- Participating in minor maintenance activities and maintain good housekeeping.
- Keeping log records of operational activities for optimal and thorough handover to other shifts.
- Support team shift plan delivery and competency development proactively.
- Share observations of good practices, unsafe acts/conditions, near misses and incidents. Support shift 5 to understand the root cause of PQ/DOW/upset incident occur within the shift to capture and facilitate learning across shift.
- Perform the role of Auxiliary Fire Fighter if assigned in the event of emergency situations
- Apply emerging technologies to perform process operational tasks
- Carry out/Perform other related duties when required
- This role will be based in Pulau Bukom, on a rotating 12-hour shift.
What we need from you?
- Minimum 4 years Ethylene Cracker HoA section (Higher Olefins and Aromatic, C4+) or Utility section (Boiler, Cogen, Wastewater Treatment etc.) experience or minimum 4 years Ethylene Cracker Hot section or Cold section experience. Prior experience on the Bukom Ethylene Cracker Complex would be a plus.
- A strong and felt commitment to HSE and Operational Discipline (Knowledge, Commitment, Attention to Details, Situational Awareness).
- Strong problem-solving skills, good technical and process aptitude to assist troubleshooting and coaching shift personnel, and ability to remain calm and composed during abnormal situations to make informed and risk-balanced decision.
- Demonstrate proactiveness, learner mindset, approachable and inclusive behaviour.
- Demonstrated strong team player behaviour with good communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Digital skills and aptitude are beneficial.
- Flexible to perform both shift work and day-work, and overtime when the need arises.
