Operator for a manufacturing client in Baghdad, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Objective
The EO works within a team in the secondary manufacturing department to assist with the operation of at least one SMD making or packing machine. The role is to perform basic operational tasks on the machine to ensure that the uptime of the machines is optimised, and manufacture of product is according to the production plan and within the defined quality parameters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operation:

  • Running the line without any stoppages to achieve required production volumes in required brand mix, product quality, minimum waste, and sufficient machine efficiency
  • Check all the required material to ensure that they are corresponding with the BOM
  • Comply with safety and hygiene at the SMD machines and responsible area
  • Comply with laid down safety, health and environmental standards
  • Work within defined procedures
  • Teamwork
  • Ensure that correct material and cigarettes are fed to the machines as per specifications
  • Report out Clean, Inspect, & Lubricate and Defect Handling DMS’s. Proper execution of DMS’s to ensure adherence of standards
  • Responsible for performance of the shift including # of stops.
  • Proper handover and share shift top losses with following shift (8hr)
  • Propose action against losses – Escalate if needed
  • Continually improve to be considered for a Technical Operator position

Quality:

  • Perform visual and physical checks of the product in every 15 minutes
  • Takes actions on the machine settings according to the result of above checks

Context/Environment:

  • The SMD is responsible for the direct conversion of raw material and cut rag tobacco into finished product within a framework of predefined systems and procedures
  • The department is expected to operate and maintain SMD machines, troubleshooting any machine stoppages and breakdowns in the minimum time to ensure achievement of the production plan
  • The department is also responsible for maintaining consistent quality of the product which is manufactured according to the best practice quality standards

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Technical High School
  • Sufficient experience in a similar level in mechanical environment
  • Ability to communicate well with other team members
  • Ability to use mechanic and measuring equipments
  • Ability to work with designated procedures and forms
