Adecco is currently hiring a full-time Plant Operator to work for our client, a major oil and gas company. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a SAGD facility while actively adhering to the company’s policies, safety, operating rules, and Government regulations.
- Location: Fort Mackay, AB | Fly in, Fly out from Calgary and Edmonton
- Shifts : 7 days on 7 days off | 12 hours/day

Responsibilities:
- Operate process unit with a focus on safety, production, and compliance, aligning activities with business priorities.
- Monitor process conditions, troubleshoot abnormal events, and implement corrective actions.
- Support maintenance schedule by preparing equipment for scheduled work.
- Contribute to the development and review of procedures.
- Conduct walk-arounds, participate in safety audits (LOTO, HSE), and ensure regulatory compliance checks and reporting.
- Assist in commissioning and start-up of new equipment and processes, as required.
- Foster a motivated and productive team environment.
- Escalate issues requiring higher authority for resolution.
- Ensure compliance with licensing terms and reporting protocols (AESO, Alberta Environment, AER).
- Participate in cross-functional teams
Requirements:
- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
- Possess a 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate, with preference given to those holding a 3rd Class Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years of Plant Operating experience.
- Relevant industry experience, especially in SAGD is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Familiar with regulatory laws, guides, directives, and policies
- Possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License (driver’s abstract required)
