Job Description
Mechanically biased with good knowledge of commercial building mechanical systems (Diesel Generators, Fuel Systems, Pumps, Valves, ancillary equipment and associated pipework). In-depth understanding of generator systems, diesel engines and maintenance problems encountered in static and portable power generating equipment. Able to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks as per manufactures recommendations. Demonstrates ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given, fault-find, and make-safe and carry out remedial and repair works. Proficiency in the handling power tools and test equipment (Thermal Imaging and Vibration analysis).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out scheduled and routine maintenance, emergency repairs and overhaul of generators (static/mobile), including the installation of auxiliary fuel systems, such as tanks, transfer pumps and pit works.
Responsible for installing and maintaining generator sets and related equipment.
Responsible for carrying out Off-load and On-load periodic testing, recording and analyzing results and commenting on system operating status.
Responsible for applying engineering standards and practices in the installation and maintenance of generators.
Responsible for the safe and efficient use of tools and specialized equipment
Carry out scheduled and routing maintenance on other mechanical or rotating systems.
Perform other duties as required to support the contract.
SKILLS

Demonstrated use of initiative and ability to make appropriate linkages in work requirements and anticipate next steps and requirements.
Ability to maintain accurate and specific records and inventories.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with various levels of staff.
Ability to review Operating and Maintenance manuals / Manufacturers operating manuals to ensure correct maintenance activities are being carried out.
Good technical skills, the incumbent is aware of the latest technology and the appropriate safety regulations related to the installation, repair and maintenance
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions in English.
Ability to climb steps and ladders and work on roof tops and other high areas.
Vocational Diploma as Mechanical or Generator Technician
Must have 2 to 5 years work experience as Generator/ Mechanical Technician.
Ability to use Test equipment (Thermometer, Thermal Imaging Camera, Vibration Analysis, Hygrometer, Sound Meter).
