Toolpusher

The Toolpusher is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the drilling rig. He/she ensures full compliance with all mandatory company, client, state, and federal rules and regulations that relate to the location and relocation of the platform drilling rig as well as maintenance, repairs and drilling for oil and gas in offshore waters. This includes the safe welfare of all company and contract personnel on board. In addition, the Toolpusher ensures successful completion of all preventative maintenance activities and projects are completed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. The Toolpusher must ensure good, open communication with the Company Representative and the Senior Toolpusher to which the rig is contracted. Although each Employee and contract hand working on the drilling rig ultimately report to the Toolpusher, The Toolpusher directly supervises the Rig safety and Training Advisor, Driller, and Crane Operator. The Toolpusher reports to the Senior Toolpusher.

Senior Toolpusher

The Senior Toolpusher is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the drilling rig. He/she ensures full compliance with all mandatory company, client, state, and federal rules and regulations that relate to the location and relocation of the platform drilling rig as well as maintenance, repairs and drilling for oil and gas in offshore waters. This includes the safe welfare of all company and contract personnel on board. In addition the Senior Toolpusher ensures successful completion of all preventative maintenance activities and projects are completed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. The Senior Toolpusher must ensure good, open communication with the Company Representative to which the rig is contracted. Although each Employee and contract hand working on the drilling rig ultimately reports to the Senior Toolpusher, the Senior Toolpusher directly supervises the Toolpusher, Rig Safety and Training Advisor, Driller and Crane Operator. The Senior Toolpusher provides overall direction and management of safe, efficient and economical drilling operations on the rig.

Roustabout

Please read below and find out more…     The Roustabout will safely and efficiently perform the general manual labor tasks throughout the rig under the supervision of the Crane Operator. This includes, but is not limited to, offloading and back-loading of supply vessels, maintenance, clean up, housekeeping, chipping and painting of the rig, the movement and relocation of supplies, groceries and equipment of the rig, simple maintenance and repairs to the plumbing and sewer systems, working in the chemical mixing area, as well as providing relief workers for the drill floor crew and assistance to the Welder, Mechanic, Electrician, Driller or Derrickhand as directed to do so by the Crane Operator.

Rig Safety Training Advisor

The Rig Safety & Training Advisor (RSTA) ensures safe operations by implementing and maintaining the health, safety, and environmental systems and programs established by the Company. The RSTA oversees compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental regulations and acts as a liaison between the onshore Quality Assurance/Health, Safety, Environment (QA/HSE) Department and rig management. The RSTA is the rig expert on health, safety, and environmental regulations in the jurisdiction in which the rig operates.   The RSTA works with the Toolpusher and first line supervisors to ensure the safety of all personnel onboard the rig. This shall include ensuring proper orientation to the rig and assignment of survival equipment and life boats as well as the maintenance of current training certifications for rig personnel. In addition, the RSTA is responsible for ensuring all safety, fire fighting and life saving equipment onboard the rig are functioning properly.

Motorman

The Motorman will ensure regular preventative maintenance activities for the main engines, generators, air compressors, portable water system, sewage treatment system, drill water manifold and pumps, bilge system, fire pumps and cold start air compressors. Preventative maintenance will occur in a timely manner so as to prevent downtime and ensure the efficient and continual function of the mechanical equipment on board the drilling rig. The motorman works as an assistant to the Mechanic, if one is aboard, for major mechanical problems and repairs. In addition to these duties, the Motorman is responsible for performing deck load inspections and calculating deck loads. 

Floorman

The job of the Floorhand is to safely and efficiently perform all manual labor tasks on the drilling floor and B.O.P. area under the direct supervision of the Driller or, in his/her absence, the Assistant Driller. 

This includes the operation of tongs, slips and spinner hawk to connect and disconnect drill pipe, tubular and drilling bits or tools as well as performing all maintenance of the equipment.  It further includes nipple up and down and care of the B.O.P. system, the monitoring and operation of the shakers and when called up to do so, to assist the Derrickhand within the mud pit, mud pump and chemical mixing. The Floorhand is responsible for the housekeeping activities on the drill floor including washing, chipping and painting. When trained, the Floorhand will provide relief for the Derrickhand.

Electrician

The Electrician must ensure the continual functioning of all the electrical tools and equipment on board the drilling rig including, but not limited to, the kitchen equipment, heating and air condition equipment, washer and dryers, etc. to minimize the downtime of the rig. The Electrician will ensure regular preventative maintenance activities and special projects are completed as well as unscheduled maintenance and repairs involving the electrical lights and alarms, various electrical components and systems of motors, engines, generators and electrical tools are performed in a timely manner. 

Driller

The Driller is in charge of rigfloor operations, controls the drilling process, and is responsible for the down hole condition of the well. He/she directs the work of the drilling team to ensure a safe and efficient operation. The Driller is responsible for safely and efficiently controlling the operations on the drill floor, ensuring safety of the drill crew and all support personnel, ensuring proper care and maintenance of the equipment and the drill floor, as well as maintaining productivity to ensure attainment of the Company’s and the contracting company’s goals and objectives.

Derrickman

The Derrickhand will assist the Driller with the raising and lowering of drill pipe, risers and tubular in and out of the hole. The Derrickhand is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, smooth operation and continual functions of the derrick, mud pumps, drilling fluids, mud pit, sack room and related equipment. The employee will work with, supervise and coordinate the activities of the Roustabout assisting in the chemical sack room. The Derrickhand takes directions from the Toolpusher, Driller or Assistant Driller, and Mud Engineer.

Crane Operator

The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and general maintenance of the various cranes located on the drilling rig. He/she is responsible for safety and efficiently lifting and moving/relocating equipment, containers, pipe, systems, groceries and various materials and supplies utilized in the operations and daily functions of the drilling rig.
